Farthing Drive Culvert

Farthing Drive Culvert
City: Colorado Springs
Year: 2008
Project Description:

Kiowa Engineering prepared the engineering design for the Farthing Drive culverts in the Broadmoor Glen South Subdivision in Colorado Springs.  The project included a new structural metal plate arch over an existing natural drainageway.  Native boulders were used to transition the drainageway through the arch while minimizing impacts to the vegetation.

The headwalls and wingwalls were designed to allow for the placement of a form liner that would provide for a pattern that simulated native stonework.  The pedestrian walls were also designed to match the wingwall treatments.  Street lighting and landscaping across the culvert finished off the project that provides for a signature entrance to the subdivision.

The project was reviewed and approved by the City of Colorado Springs Department of Public Works.  A 404 application was filed for and obtained by Kiowa Engineering.
