Sinton Trail

Sinton Trail
City: Colorado Springs
Year: 1992
Project Description:

Kiowa Engineering has been involved with the design and construction of trail infrastructure since 1988.  At about that time, the City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services responded to public appeal to develop an urban trail network.

As Kiowa Engineering prepared designs for the Sinton Road Bridge Replacement, a trail underpass was integrated into the project at very little additional cost.  The Sinton Trail Underpass, one of the earliest installed in city, has performed well over time.  After high water events on South Douglas Creek, maintenance issues are minimal.

The trail corridor offers a high aesthetic appeal.  Besides providing commuter access to downtown Colorado Springs, the trail is frequented by workers from nearby office buildings for recreational opportunities during the workday.
