William J. Hybl Sports Medicine and Performance Center
Kiowa Engineering worked as a part of the design team for the William J. Hybl Sports Medicine and Performance Center on the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs campus in Colorado Springs. Kiowa Engineering’s scope on the project involved site design including storm drainage system, water distribution system, sanitary sewer collection system, utility service improvements, parking lot layout and improvements, grading, new left turn lane off Eagle Rock Road into the site and coordination with Team on the layout of the site improvements. The drainage improvements included design of a storm sewer system to capture and convey site runoff to either the existing detention basin or the new stormwater quality facility. The existing detention basin was retrofitted to include stormwater quality improvements and enlarged to handle the additional runoff volume. The new stormwater quality facility design was laid out to minimize the impact to the required parking count and include underground detention to store a portion of the volume. Kiowa Engineering’s services also involved drainage analysis of the overall site, site planning, accessible path analysis and construction services.
